Few men have to say these words, but on a grey September day in 1944, in a shattered little Dutch town, some thousands of British fighting men said them. And meant them.
 
Surrounded, vastly outnumbered, hungry and running cut of ammo, for eight history-making days those men stood fast against everything Germany could throw at them heavy guns, tanks, planes and thousands of crack stormtroopers. The Nazis found those men would fight to the end, but could never be beaten.
 
 
 
The men were the British Airborne Forces.
