North & South – The Official Magazine of the Civil War Society is a monthly publication focused on military and general history related to the American Civil War (1861–65). Initially established in Tollhouse, California, the magazine’s first run concluded in 201, but it made a comeback in 2020. Each issue is filled with innovative historical analysis and insights. Readers enjoy various features, including Knapsack (a collection of intriguing Civil War facts), Civil Warriors (profiles of lesser-known figures from the war, including soldiers and civilians of all backgrounds), Briefings (book reviews), and Crossfire (an engaging dialogue through readers’ letters).
